This month we will be studying the colour Green.
Sonia will be presenting an activity and would like you to bring scraps of fabrics in various shades of green as well as some reds and pinks.  Also please bring a colour wheel if you have one and a glue stick.

Kristyn will be explaining Improv Piecing and have examples of curved improv, block improv and strips improv.  If you wanted to work on your improv skills and make a quilt block of each colour, then please bring your green fabrics needed for this as well.  By the end of the year you will have enough coloured quilt blocks to make a quilt top.  If you wanted a more traditional look, please bring your fabrics, and work on your own block pattern.

Also needed are your sewing machines and sewing kits.
Bring your lunch as well as we will be staying for the sew-in until around 4pm.

Meeting Date is February 13th.
9:45am-10:15am socializing and set up and meeting will run until about noon.

Donations needed for Community Sewing Classes

2/4/2016

The London Community Chaplaincy in the Southdale Housing Complex,  is starting a learn to sew class, similar to the ones they offer at Limberlost.

These classes will begin sometime in March and be on either a Tuesday morning or a Friday morning.  Got some free time?  They are looking for more volunteers.  Contact Mary V. at 519-433-9339 if you are available.  Even if you only have some time every few months- that's fine.

They are also looking for some supplies to get them started.  At Limberlost, we have been so fortunate for all the donations these past 2 years and will be dividing up some of the fabrics and notions and giving them to Southdale.

Here is a specific list needed, and if you have any extra sewing supplies you haven't used in a while, and would like to see them go somewhere that would certainly use them, please call Mary.

  • Scissors
  • Thread (at least black and white)
  • Needles
  • Pins
  • a couple of seam rippers
  • 1" elastic (for wrist pin cushions)
  • one cutting mat and ruler and rotary cutter
  • tape measures
  • colourful fabric - cottons or cotton blends
  • flannels
  • upholstery and/ or drapery fabric (for making bags)
  • Iron
Thanks again for thinking of both these learn to quilt and learn to sew programs in the Social Housing Complexes of Limberlost and Southdale.  We are so appreciative of everything that has been donated to our program!
