NEW BUSINESS: We welcome our newest member, Linda McLaren, who comes to us from a Chatham- Kent Guild. Linda brings to us many years of quilting experience and past experience in an administrative capacity with her previous guild. How fortunate for us to have Linda as a new member.
Also, a warm welcome back to Elaine Pullen an existing member we haven’t seen this past year. Elaine hopes to see more of us in person and also take part in a committee.
Our new location was well received by our members present. We appreciated the great space for meetings, workshops and amenities for members to use. Once again, thank you to all those involved in its acquisition.
The Open House was a great success there are some very talented members of the various guilds that share this location and we had an opportunity to meet &greet as well as view their expertise.
Barbara Allen, the current president of the East Lions Artisans Centre, joined our meeting briefly and extended a warm welcome on behalf of the existing guilds and the Board of the Artisans Centre.
Barbara shared some housekeeping tips and pointed out the various amenities available for our use.
LIMBERLOST COMMUNITY REPORT: Lindsay is working the flag of origin quilt with the participants and still needs any smaller scraps of primary colours you may wish donate . Please drop these off on a Tuesday at the community centre, 1481 Limberlost Rd between 9:30 to 11:30 it would be appreciated.
The next project will be a rag quilt; any fabric at least 6 inches square, again would be appreciated.
Mary has a donated quilt given to her for the Limberlost centre she is considering using it for a fund raiser for the centre. The fund raiser is yet to be determined. Mary would welcome anyone who would like to volunteer at the centre .please contact her if you are interested. The contact information for Mary is on the Web Site.
TREASURERS REPORT; Kristyn has updated the treasures report on our website ,once again if your membership for 2015 is still outstanding please check the website for payment options.
Elaine Pullen will present Elements of Design Series Part 4 at the March meeting and thank you to Elaine for stepping up.
Kristyn presented How to choose batting. We discussed when and what to choose for different purposes’. Kristyn brought samples of various Manufactures and their available product.
She shared her knowledge of different kinds of product, what she has had success with and those the can cause a problem. Her favorite, Quilters Dream, was available in her many samples we learned about it features and benefits. This product is readily available at Hyggeligt `.We can still find Chantal’s store in London until March.
PROGRAM COMMITTEE: Jan, has agreed to do a workshop on Free motion quilting .She will gear her presentation to those of us who do not have a long arm machine. The Program committee asked for some new members to join preferably someone newer to quilting to insure that were meeting all needs of the guild members. Both Elaine and Veronica stepped up to challenge .
MISCELLANEOUS: Veronica suggested we have a S.O.S time after our formal meeting is adjourned. We can bring any quilting problem that we need help solving. Great Idea!
