What an amazing 3 days! Set up started Thursday morning with many eager guild volunteers and over 130 quilts. There was a line up at the door first thing Friday morning as we welcomed local quilters and quilters from neighbouring cities to our show. Inspiration was everywhere to be found by show guests, who were both quilters and non-quilters. Goodwill on Horton was our modern (with an industrial feel) venue and quilt show guests enjoyed the delicious cooking from the lovely staff at Edgar and Joe's Cafe. Vendors and guild members presented different themed demos and lectures throughout both days. And we ended the Friday night with a lecture and trunk show presented by Debbie Grifka. Debbie also had a display of a few of her Lines to Design quilts as well as one of her 100 Days series. There was a nice selection of fabric and notions from our wonderful vendors- Kallisti Quilts, The Quilt Kitchem, Fibre Magic, Quiltatious, My Fabric Dresser and Stache Fabrics and Notions. We saw many brimming shopping bags in quilter's arms! Debbie Grifka taught both a Saturday morning and an afternoon workshop, with many of her students learning a new technique called Improv Applique and almost finishing their class project by the end of the class. Minutes before the show closed on Saturday afternoon, Viewer's Choice ballots were counted and Tammy from The Quilt Kitchen won a special ribbon from the Canadian Quilters Association. Tammy's quilt is a detailed foundation paper pattern called Colour My World by Wendy Williams. Before we knew it, the show was over. Months of hard work by our volunteers, hours of sewing and quilting by our members both came together for a very successful 2023 Quilt Show. Thank you to everyone. And now photos of the quilts! Here are some overview shots of the show and at the top right of the webpage is a slide show of individual quilt photos.
