At October's meeting we discussed the need to have our own official logo. At November's meeting, Sonia presented a draft that her son, Sasha had created. Everyone "ooh-ed and ahh-ed". It was a great representation of modern quilting and our connection to London, the forest city. The logo presented was a draft and still needed some colour. Here are some options that Sasha has presented.

Our member Jan, was kind enough to share a couple of techniques with the group. The first technique shared was how to free motion quilt circles (or pebbles) with squares (or windows). The sample piece might not look like too much, but you can see the full effect on Jan's table runner by clicking here. The second technique Jan shared was how to avoid an overlapping bulky end to quilt binding. Unfortuantley, I was spending too much time paying attention that I missed the photo op. Jan has promised to provide more information about her techniques for us to share on the website in the upcoming weeks. An update on the webste was given. Many member mentioned that it would be beneficial to have an actual calendar of events rather than a list. A calender has now been added to the website. You can find it by clicking here. This calendar lists our own events as well as events held by the quilting community in and around London. We have also updated our Members Only area. This is a password protected page specifically for members. If you are a member, you will receive an email shortly with your password information. Unintentionally, our show and share this month had a bit of a baby quilt theme. Two members also shared their very first quilts. Our next meeting will be held December 14, 2013.
Please join us on Saturday November 9, 2013 at 10am for our monthly meeting. The meeting will be held at Hyggeligt Fabrics. Click here for the location. This month, one of our members, Jan, will demonstrate "circles and squares" free motion quilting and a finishing binding technique. Here is an example of Jan's fantastic work. As always, everyone is welcome. Bring some work to share with the rest of the group.
Hope to see you there! |
