Stitch in the Park - July 2015

7/20/2015

Don't forget to join us for our second "Stitch in the Park" on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 6:30pm.  Meet us in Victoria Park at the bandshell. Bring some handwork and a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

This event is open to everyone in the community and not just the London Modern Quilt Guild Canada Members.

Don't have any quilting handwork to work on?  Not a problem. Bring some knitting, crochet or embroidery too!

If you happen to arrive late, just look for the group of stitchers sitting in the park!  We will be easy to spot.

If you can't make it out this time, not to worry!  This year we will be holding one more "Stitch in the Park" event.  We have selected these dates to coincide with London's Youth Advisory Council Movie nights in Victoria Park.  Movies start at Dusk.

Here are our "Stitch in the Park" dates and the movies that will be shown:

Tuesday, July 21, 2015, 6:30pm - Frozen

Tuesday, August 25, 2015, 6:30pm - Brave

This is a great way to get to know your other Guild and community members.  If you know someone who might be interested, please pass this along.  Hope to see you there!

August Gen Q Challenge

7/16/2015

Our Gen Q Challenge continues for the month of July/August.

What is the Gen Q Challenge, you ask?  Well every month Generation Q Magazine publishes a Block Builder Challenge. Gen Q publishes a starter block with a limited number of lines or shapes within a square block.  It is up to you to use your imagination and piece a block using the shapes/lines provided as a starting point.  Generation Q Magazine has graciously given us permission to use their starter blocks for our challenge!

Here are the rules that we have added to this month's challenge:

1) Create a block that will have a finished size of 10"x10".
2) Use only blue and white.
3) Bring your pieced block to August's meeting.  We will raffle off all of the blocks and one lucky member will be able to take them home and create a quilt with them.

Don't forget to incorporate all of the elements of design that we have been studying for the last year!

Here is the block for July/August:

Happy creating!
