December Meeting Recap

Our December meeting was held December 12, 2015.  It was a fun meeting filled with delicious treats, beautiful handmade gifts and hilarious games!   Thank you to everyone for making this meeting such a success and thanks to Sonia for creating a very fun scrappy bingo!

 Even though our meeting was very social and fun, it was a little bittersweet as Chantal announced that she will be stepping down as Chair of our Guild.  One of our founding members, Sandra, sent a very special Thank You to Chantal all the way from British Columbia, you can read it here.  Thank you Chantal for your persistence in starting the Guild and of of the support you have provided over the years.  It certainly wouldn't be what it is today without you!

We are still seeking a new Chair so if you are interested in knowing more, please talk to Kristyn at one of our meetings, or email the Guild.

Some other business that was announced at the meeting:

• ​The programming committee is working on bringing in Nancy Trowbridge for a workshop at our June 11, 2016 meeting.  Part of the cost will be subsidized by the Guild.  More information to follow.
• The LMQGC will be presenting a Thread Bar Workshop by Anita of Cotton Mill Threadworks on October 1, 2016.  More information to follow.
• LMQGC Member Gail will be presenting a workshop at the London Friendship Quilters' Guild on January 16, 2016 called "Liberated Baskets", she has opened up the workshop to LMQGC members.  If you are interested in this workshop please email Gail.
• The London Friendship Quilters' Guild has also extended an invitation to LMQGC members to join them on the bus trip to the Quilt Canada Show in Toronto.  The bus trip will be open to LMQGC members after June 14, 2016.  More information will follow as the date approaches.

Sometime during our meeting, Jan mentioned Modern Quilt Studio's video "Desert Island: Mud".  I missed the context but made note of it.  Have a look at the video, it is quite interesting!  While you're at it, you may want to look at some of their other videos too!

We had quite a few members stay after the meeting for some social sewing.

 Just a friendly reminder, that the membership dues are due for the 2016 Membership year.  You can pay by cash or cheque at the meeting, or online by PayPal.

Our programming committee has some exciting stuff planned for 2016. Stay tuned for more information!
