January 2017 Meeting Reminder

Note: We are not moving our meeting location!!!  The City of London has postponed the renovation of the East Lion's Artisan Centre until June 2017.  This means we can stay put and enjoy the perks of having our own dedicated space!  As we approach June 2017, we will provide more information on the actual move

Here is our agenda:

• Membership renewals are due for 2017. You can renew online via Paypal by clicking here or in person by cheque. 
• Call for volunteers to audit out financial records.

• Reminder that the deposit for the SWOMod Quilt Retreat is due April 1, 2017. More Info can be found here.

• Sign Up for Fabric Dyeing Workshop, July 8, 2017. More information can be found here.
• Bring your Canada 150 Mini Quilt.    
• Reminder for Slab Blocks for the Great Canadian Quilting Bee held by the CQA
• Introduction to our New London Modern Quilt Guild Logo Quilt Block Challenge.
• We will have a open sew-in until 4:30pm that day.  Bring a project and stay for the afternoon!

Our program this month will be a 2 parter.  The second portion requires a bit of preparation. In addition to your sewing machine and simple sewing/quilting kit,  here is what you need to know:

Part 1 : Introduction to English Paper Piecing

​Sheilagh will lead a lesson on English paper Piecing Hexies.  A small kit will be provided to each member.  In addition to this kit, please bring 7-10 scrap pieces of fabric no smaller than 2.5"x2.5".  A mini Charm Pack would be great for this exercise.

Part 2: Open Wide Pouch Lesson

 Bonnie will lead a lesson on how to make an Open Wide Pouch (Pattern by Anna Graham aka Noodlehead)

We ask that you come prepared for this class by having all or your pieces cut and ready to go.  You will need the following materials:

• fabric, 1/4 yard would be plenty (SEE CHART BELOW!)
• zipper, at least 10″ long or longer (SEE CHART BELOW!)
• thread
• interfacing of your choice, batting or skip it all together
• scrap for zipper end pull
