Friday night was her trunk show where we learned what brought Suzanne to making memory quilts, heard all about the families in her book and saw a slide show of her quilts. We also had a special guest, Mitali who gave us the history about some of the saris used for her memory quilt including one that had been worn for 3 generations spanning over 100 years.
Saturday was our workshop where we learned how to interview families to know what is the reason behind them wanting a memory quilt, what clothing is important to them and what they want the finished quilt to look like.
We also learned how to select clothing, prepare and cut the clothing and then we all designed and arranged our fabrics for our quilt tops. Some of us even got the first little bit sewn together.
Suzanne also talked about finishing our quilts so future generations can enjoy such a loving family heirloom.
Such an inspiring 2 days, thank you so much Suzanne for your knowledge and expertise!
