We welcomed some visitors this meeting. Welcome Annette and Linda! Thanks for joining us.
We started our meeting with the usual reports. Treasurer's Report, Community Report & The Modern Quilt Guild report.
Our book reviewed this month was Jean Wells, "Intuitive Color & Design". Sonia reviewed this book and had all of us participate in a great activity. We were each given a random advertisement from a book or catalog and a piece of tracing paper. By tracing various elements onto the tracing paper we were able to see the pages in a different way.
We then took our scraps and pieced to create a composition inspired by our tracings. What a great and inspiring exercise! Thank you Sonia.
- LMQG Logo Challenge - In this challenge, each member will create a block to coordinate with our logo. Blocks are due at our November meeting. To read more about the guidelines for this challenge, click here.
- MQG QuiltCon Charity Quilt Challenge - Although we will keep this quilt content to our Members only for now, the details and layout of this quilt are still being sorted out. We will have more details of our Guild's final layout at Octobers meeting. The Modern Quilt Guild has posted some fantastic articles outlining the quilt requirements, colour, and alternative gridwork. There were a lot of questions re: alternative gridwork at our meeting. We have yet to determine the alternate gridwork of our Charity Quilt. We hope to have this answered for October's meeting!
- Mug Rug Exchange - At our December meeting we will be exchanging mug rugs. The only requirement of this exchange is that the mug rugs need to be modern. We ask that any member who wants to participate in this exchange sign up. If you have not already done so, please sign up by emailing us.
As always, we had some lovely work shared at the meeting:
